Peabody is delighted to announce an S106 agreement with Berkeley Homes to deliver 283 much needed affordable homes in London. The site named Oval Village will provide 138 affordable rent homes, with a further 145 homes available through Shared Ownership, a part-buy part-rent government backed scheme aimed at helping first time buyers onto the property ladder.

Oval Village sits on the former Gas Holders site in Kennington and working with appointed architects Rolf Judd and Grid, will retain the cylindrical block linking the site to its hereditary routes as we embark on the next chapter in its history.

The site will benefit from views over Oval Cricket Ground and is well connected with close links to Oval & Kennington Underground and Vauxhall Overground stations.

Matthew Cunnah, Senior Development Manager for Peabody commented

“Oval Village is an exciting opportunity at the site of the Historic Oval Gasholders, which when built were the largest of their kind in the world - a magnificent feat of Victorian engineering and in the shadow of the world famous Oval Cricket Ground.

The historic site's redevelopment (and restoration) creates a new phase in its history - a significant symbol of a different kind of progress, where old blends with new to build a thriving, vibrant community.

Peabody is delighted to be working with our strategic partners, Berkeley Homes, to bring forward 283 affordable homes in this iconic, central location.”

The first completion at Oval Village is anticipated for Spring 2024 with further information on the sales launch of Shared Ownership homes to be added closer to this time.
